Dream of the Red Chamber
Dream of the Red Chamber, also named The Story of the Stone, was written by Cao Xueqin in the Qing Dynasty. It mainly describes the love tragedies among Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai, as well as the rise and decline of the four families, Jia, Shi, Wang and Xue. It is called by the lager generations the encyclopedia of the last feudalistic age.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms
Romance of the Three Kingdoms was written by Luo Guanzhong in the Ming Dynasty based on the historical book Records of the Three Kingdoms. It depicts the history of 105 years between the East Han Dynasty and the West Jin Dynasty, and basically involves the political and military battles among the three kingdoms, Han, Wei and Wu as well as eventual reunification of the three kingdoms and establishment of Jin Dynasty by Si Mayan. It has created numerous heroes by depicting the battles.

The Story by the Water Margin
Outlaws of the Marsh was written by Shi Naiyan in the Ming Dynasty. It describes the story of 108 heroes headed by Songjiang, who met and started the revolution in Liang Mountain but were finally killed by the ruler.

Journey to the West
Journey to the West was written by Wu Cheng’en in the Ming Dynasty. It’s is an extended account of the legendary pilgrimage of the Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Xuanzang who traveled to the “Western Regions” (Central Asia and India) with the Monkey King-Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, to obtain Buddhist sacred texts. After defeating many monsters and overcome 81 troubles, they finally reached the Western Region, met the Tathagata Buddha and became a Buddha themselves finally.
