People always say that music is beyond the boundaries between countries. As far as I’m concerned, it’s because when it comes to music, people from all over the world can communicate with each other with this unique “language” which may don’t even have any words.People get to appreciate the true beauty of this “language”and have a deep meaningful talk with their own soul without any prejudice or hostility.Just peace in heart.
I think music would be a great tool to learn one language. Here I introduce you Farewell (送别),a Chinese song lyric by a Chinese named Li Shutong and composed by a American named John Pond Ordway. They didn’t meet each other in their whole life, but together, they showed us a masterpiece in music history.
Try to sing along.
Outside the road shelter by the ancient trail, Grasses are green and wild. 长亭外 古道边 芳草碧连天 chánɡ tíng wài gǔ dào biān fāng cǎo bì lián tiān Willows are waving with lingering flute, The sun’s setting down the hill. 晚风拂柳笛声残 夕阳山外山 wǎn fēng fú liǔ dí shēng cán xī yáng shān wài shān To the ends of the earth, Gone are the friends and acquaintances. 天之涯 地之角 知交半零落 tiān zhī yá dì zhī jiǎo zhī jiāo bàn líng luò Take a cup of farewell with kind wishes, Leaves the heart with cold dreams.
