In Chinese learning, you may see these two characters very often. “不” and”没”. They are the meaning of “not” in English but have some little difference in their using.
Let’s look at these sentences:
(past tense)我没有做过—-I didn’t do that.
(future tense)我明天不会去—–I will not go tomorrow.
(present tense)我不喜欢苹果—–I don’t like apple.
(present tense)这里没有书—–There is no book here.
(past tense)他以前不是这样的人—–He was not such a person before.
As you can see, “没” is used to describe things not be done in the past or present, it can not use to express disavowal in the future. While “不” can be used in any tense.
2 主观与客观—–Subjectivity and objectivity
“不” is subjectivity, it means you are not willing to do something, such as “不听” –don’t want to listen”不看”–don’t want to watch.
“没” is objectivity, it is used to show the fact that not exists objectively. Such as “没可能”—impossible “没办法”—no way
“不” can not connect a noun.
If you want to deny a noun, you must use “没”.
没办法(méi bàn fǎ) —- no method/ no way
没本事 (méi běn shì)—–no skill
没朋友(méi péng yǒu)—-no friend
