Are you suffering from FoMO?

In the age of intelligence, it's hard for us to live without a smart phone. We check updates on our social media APPs or websites every day, to stay tuned for what others are doing. We are in fear of missing out the latest news and gossip happening around us. If we don't connect yourself to the social media, we'll feel "isolated". So, many of us are suffering from FoMO.

Fear of missing out or FoMO is "a pervasive apprehension that others might be having rewarding experiences from which one is absent". This social angst is characterized by "a desire to stay continually connected with what others are doing".

FoMO is also defined as a fear of regret, which may lead to a compulsive concern that one might miss an opportunity for social interaction, a novel experience, profitable investment or other satisfying events.

Besides its impact on real-world social activities, FoMO could also influence the formation of long-term goals and people's self-perceptions.

Example:

jǐn guǎn gǎn dào fēi cháng pí bèi, dàn yuē hàn xīn zhōng "hài pà cuò guò" de qíng xù hái shì zhàn le shàng fēng, tā zuì zhōng cān jiā le jù huì

Even though he was exhausted, John's FoMO got the best of him and he went to the party.
