The classic line originates from the sizzling Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun. Since the flirting practice by the leading actor in the drama, Song Joong-ki, became popular, the word “撩妹” has no longer been derogatory. Against its original meaning of molesting girls, it has become a pride of a man to be favored by a girl.

“撩妹-Liāo mèi ”is a cyber word. It means “flirt with, hit on or pick up a girl”. For example, “人家这才叫撩妹，你那只能叫性骚扰”, which means “This is called “hit on a girl, while what you did would probably be considered as “sexual harassment”.
