Chinlingo Podcast: What words do you fear most from your workmates?

Zài gōng zuò zhōng，měi gè rén dōu yǒu tóng shì huò dā dàng，nǐ men xū yào yì qǐ hé zuò wán chéng mǒu gè gōng zuò rèn wù 。 

在工作中，每个人都有同事或搭档，你们需要一起合作完成某个工作任务。

Every one has workmates or partners at work to finish an assignment jointly.

Dàn shì，wǒ men cháng cháng bù néng xuǎn zé zì jǐ de gōng zuò huǒ bàn，nà me，zài gōng zuò zhōng，yù dào yǔ nǐ xìng gé、xí guàn wán quán bù tóng de dā dàng shí，nǐ zuì hài pà tā men shuō shén me huà ne？ 

但是，我们常常不能选择自己的工作伙伴，那么，在工作中，遇到与你性格、习惯完全不同的搭档时，你最害怕他们说什么话呢？

Usually, we cannot choose a working partner ourselves. If a partner having the opposite character and habits is assigned to you, what words will you fear most from them?

1、Wǒ jiù kàn kan。

1、我就看看。   

I’m just taking a look.

“Kàn kan”，shuō míng kàn de shí jiān duǎn，ér qiě bìng bú rèn zhēn。 Tā yīng gāi bìng bù xiǎng rèn zhēn liáo jiě nǐ de gōng zuò nèi róng，yě bù xiǎng bāng nǐ wán chéng gōng zuò，tā zhǐ shì hào qí nǐ zài zuò shén me。 

“看看”，说明看的时间短，而且并不认真。他应该并不想认真了解你的工作内容，也不想帮你完成工作，他只是好奇你在做什么。

“看看” indicates a short and casual look. The speaker neither means to learn about your work carefully, nor to help you finish it. He or she is just curious about what you are doing.

2、Wǒ jiù shuō shuo。

2、我就说说。     

I’m just saying something.

“Shuō shuo”，cháng cháng dài biǎo le suí biàn de tài dù。Yé xǔ tā zhī qián duì nǐ de gōng zuò tí le yì xiē wèn tí，dàn shì bìng méi yǒu gào su nǐ jiě jué de fāng fǎ，yě bù xiǎng bāng nǐ jiě jué zhè xiē wèn tí。 

“说说”，常常代表了随便的态度。也许他之前对你的工作提了一些问题，但是并没有告诉你解决的方法，也不想帮你解决这些问题。

“说说” is always accompanied by the speaker’s casual attitude. The speaker may have mentioned some problems with your work, but hasn’t told you the solutions, and doesn’t want to help you at all.

3、Wǒ xiǎng shì shi。

3、我想试试。     

I feel like taking a try.

“Shì shi”，shuō míng tā bìng méi yǒu wán chéng gōng zuò de bǎ wò，yě bù yí dìng huì duì gōng zuò fù zé ō 。 

 “试试”，说明他并没有完成工作的把握，也不一定会对工作负责哦。

“试试” means the speaker is unsure about the work and may not be responsible for it.

4、Wǒ xiǎng tīng ting nǐ de xiǎng fǎ。

4、我想听听你的想法。       

I’d like to have your ideas.

“Tīng ting”，yòng suí yì de yǔ qì，què bào lù le tā zì jǐ de hào qí xīn。 

“听听”，用随意的语气，却暴露了他自己的好奇心。

“听听” discloses the speaker’s curiosity despite of the casual tone.

5、Ràng wǒ xiǎng xiǎng。

5、让我想想。       

Let me have a second thought.

“Xiǎng xiǎng”，suī rán biǎo dá le zì jǐ “xiǎng”de shí jiān bìng bú huì tài cháng，dàn shì，jì rán méi yǒu míng què de dá àn，nà me，shuí zhī dào ne？ 

“想想”，虽然表达了自己“想”的时间并不会太长，但是，既然没有明确的答案，那么，谁知道呢？

Although “想想” indicates thinking will not take long, who knows what the result will be, since no definite answer has been given.
