In some situations, you should say "谢谢 (Thank you)" instead of "对不起 (Sorry)". Do not always feel sorry for what has happened, but to appreciate the others for what they have already done.


If you are late, do not say "对不起我总是迟到 (duì bù qǐ wǒ zǒng shì chí dào/Sorry, I'm always late.)" but say "谢谢你耐心等我 (xiè xiè nǐ nài xīn děng wǒ/Thank you for your patience.)".


If you somehow get mad at someone, do not say "对不起我刚才不讲道理 (duì bù qǐ wǒ gāng cái jiǎng dào lǐ/Sorry, I'm not making a lot of sense.)" but say "谢谢你的理解 (xiè xiè nǐ de lǐ jiě/Thank you for understanding me.)".

If you have a heart-to-heart talk with your friends, do not say "对不起,我只是胡言乱语 (duì bù qǐ, wǒ zhǐ shì hú yán luàn yǔ/Sorry, I'm just rambling.)" but say "谢谢你的聆听 (xiè xiè nǐ de líng tīng/Thank you for listening.)".


If you get encourage from others, do not say "对不起我总让你失望 (duì bù qǐ wǒ zǒng ràng nǐ shī wàng/Sorry I'm such a disappointment.)" but say "谢谢你一直对我抱有期望 (xiè xiè nǐ yī zhí duì wǒ bào yǒu qī wàng/Thank you for having hope in me this whole time.)".
