YOU HU

There is a fox, solitary and suspicious,

At that dam over the Qi.

My heart is sad;

That man has no lower garment.

There is a fox, solitary and suspicious,

At that deep ford of the Qi.

My heart is sad;

That man has no girdle.

There is a fox, solitary and suspicious,

By the side there of the Qi.

My heart is sad;

That man has no clothes.

yǒu hú

有狐  

yǒu hú suí suí ， zài bǐ qí liáng 。

有狐[1]绥绥[2]，在彼淇[3]梁[4]。

xīn zhī yōu yǐ ， zhī zǐ wú cháng 。

心之忧矣，之子无裳。

yǒu hú suí suí ， zài bǐ qí lì 。

有狐绥绥，在彼淇厉[5]。

xīn zhī yōu yǐ ， zhī zǐ wú dài 。

心之忧矣，之子无带。

yǒu hú suí suí ， zài bǐ qí cè 。

有狐绥绥，在彼淇侧。

xīn zhī yōu yǐ ， zhī zǐ wú fú 。

心之忧矣，之子无服。

注释：

[1]狐：在这里比喻男子。[2]绥绥：独自慢走求偶的样子。[3]淇：河名， [4]梁：桥梁。 [5]厉：水边浅滩。

译文：

狐狸独自慢慢走， 

走在淇水桥上头。 

我的心中多伤悲， 

他连裤子都没有。

狐狸独自慢慢走， 

走在淇水浅滩头。 

我的心中多伤悲， 

他连衣带也没有。

狐狸独自慢慢走， 

走在淇水岸上头。

我的心中多伤悲，

他连衣服都没有。

创作背景：                   

有位青年寡妇，在路途中遇到一位鰥[1]夫,对其产生爱意，很想嫁给他，但没有直接表白求爱之意，只在内心中有强烈的活动。故诗人托此妇之言，以有狐在踽踽独行，思得匹偶，表白此妇对其所爱慕之人的爱心。

[1]鰥夫(guān fū): 无妻或丧妻的男人
